Two talented women have shown how imagination and attention to detail can take paper into a new dimension. Faux drapery hangings, tapestries and faux footwear are just two of the categories they have addressed. Costumes borrowed from archives and private collections have been realistically reproduced in--Paper at Fashion Institute of Technology's newest exhibition Papiers a' la mode: Illusions of Fashion.

This is a must-see. Isabelle de Borchgrave and Rita Brown have re-created some of the historical costumes in paper, simulating all the exquisite detailing with hand-painting, stencilling, and trimmings. Their talents and ingenuity are inspiring as well as educational.
